To save with a transparent background, both in Gimp and Photoshop, you must save as .PNG or .GIF. JPG does not support transparency. Also, in Gimp, when you begin a new project you must specify the transparent background using the advanced options dialogue.

Kiran: Hello Alton. Welcome to this blog. Thanks a ton for the tip! So I should have looked in the Advanced Options dialog. I guess I have a lot to learn in Gimp :)

Very bright colours and makes me feel like having a capsicum today with noodles. I like the picture. Do not worry much about the transparent aspect. It is not that important to think on. At least I think so.

Kiran: Subhanjan, now you've made my mouth water by mentioning the noodles and capsicum combination :). Yes, I think I am worrying less about the transparent aspect now. I guess if and when I change the theme with a darker background colour, I will think about it.
