Hey. Liked the thought of shifting the PoV. Interesting would be to take the same snaps 1 f stop below or at -0.3/0.7 ev exposure compensation.
I think that could have probably given you the clarity of bulbs. Obviously you shot at high ISO (auto??) and the noise is visible.
Why dont you try exposure compensation now in GIMP. I am not much of a digital guy so I dont relly know 'how' to do that in GIMP. But there certainly must be a way...

Kiran: Thanks for dropping by Laukik. Yes, I think I should experiment with the exposure compensation too. And the S3IS allows for setting that at the time of shooting too (or shooting 3 quick shots in a "exposure bracket"). Obviously, doing it during post-processing gives greater flexibility, not to mention freeing the photographer from that detail at the time of shooting :)
I will definitely try out exposure compensation in the future! So far, all I do is choose one of those preset options - don't know whether they only adjust the colours or do any exposure compensation too.
This snap was at ISO 100 I think (I rarely go beyond that .. I have ruined otherwise good snaps because of ISO400!).

Oh that is exquisite! Not much negative in this picture. A very fulfilling Cityscape. Cheers!

Kiran: Thanks Subhanjan. Although I feel if I had a DSLR with a larger aperture opening, I might have been able to use a faster shutter speed and get a sharper image of all the thousands of bulbs!
