About SCSB

The Self-critic Shutterbug is, to put it simply, a self-improvement exercise, where the authors post some photographs clicked by themselves; and reflect on how the photographs could have been better.

This blog was started by Kiran in mid-October 2008. Kiran is a software engineer by profession but he also happens to be passionate about photography and blogging. However, more than 2 years after laying his hands on the simply superb Canon Powershot S3-IS, he felt that he had failed to graduate from amateur to intermediate level. This drive to improve his photography skills is what led Kiran to start this blog; purchase a domain name and self-host it.

Kiran now uses a Nikon D3000. Kiran also maintains a personal blog (Horizons – Filled with Hope).

Kiran was soon joined by his friend Rakshith, who is more passionate about photography (and spends much more time on clicking and post-editing). Rakshith has been using a Kodak DX7590 to come up with some stunning photographs for the past few years and recently, he graduated to a Canon EOS1000D.

We also have guest shutterbugs – Rahul, Sharath – who post once in a while.

We seek support from you, the reader, in form of your (preferably, but not necessarily, critical ;) comments. Your comments are sure to help us explore our passion and creativity to the fullest!

As a closing comment, we suggest you to keep visiting this “about” page once in a while – because there are more friends who are in the pipeline to join us as shutterbugs. And here’s a tip – each snap is categorized according to the photographer and the camera – so it should be easy for you to find the particular shutterbug you are looking for.

So, what are you waiting for? Grab your camera and start clicking!

    Hi Kiran,

Thanks a lot for your comments on my blog and for the link you’ve put on your blog!

I see some very interesting pictures here on your blog but more importantly, I like your concept of you assuming the critic’s role for your own pictures. All the best with your blog too!

I started with the S5 but I have used the S3 as well… both are very fine cameras and I guess they serve well for now, until we graduate to DSLRs :)

Anoop was my classmate and is a very good friend. We just completed our course this month and had been to Lakshadweep thereafter… you’ll see some nice pics on our blogs in the next few days!

Take care and stay in touch…

I really liked the concept of SCSB .Name of the blog itself is attractive–critic’s role for your own pictures. It would be a good forum to exchange views..learn new photography skills…and of course, an opportunity to view some good photos.

    All the best !!
    Ram
